Energy assessment of an electrically heated catalyst in a hybrid RCCI truck

چکیده

Reactivity controlled compression ignition (RCCI) combustion showed great advantages in terms of engine-out NOx and soot emissions reduction. However, HC CO are larger than with conventional diesel combustion. Commercial oxidation catalysts can deal the amount generated during RCCI only at warm conditions, thus limiting implementation this concept vehicles hybrid applications due to large engine stop periods. This work aims study behaviour an electrically heated catalyst used a medium-duty truck operating diesel-gasoline A parallel P2 full is studied transient conditions by means numerical simulations validated experimental data. The results compared those from commercial non-hybrid catalyst. show that fuel consumption increases about 2 % combined cycles 5 urban cases respect case Finally, it was found allows achieve EUVI targets for all pollutant CO2 levels 15 %.
